SUMMARY:Music Off Main presents Pennsbury Alumni Jazz Concert Band
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to Music off Main: Your Ultimate Summer Concert Experience! \nExperience Yardley welcomes you every Saturday evening (and Sunday afternoon) between Memorial Day and Labor Day for an unforgettable musical journey right in the heart of Yardley Borough. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Buttonwood Park\, our free live outdoor music concerts offer a diverse array of performances that cater to all tastes and ages. \nIn the afternoon on Sunday\, June 29th we’ll be joined by the Pennsbury Alumni Jazz Concert Band. Please read more about them below. \n  \nThe event is BYO chair and beverages\, with fun for all! \nFollow us on our EY Instagram and EY Facebook for schedule changes\, including weather-related updates. \n  \n  \nThe Pennsbury Concert Jazz Band (PCJB) has long been considered one of the finest musical ensembles in the country.  Year after year it consistently earns the highest rankings at festivals in which it competes. Since its beginnings in 1959\, the musicians in this group have performed jazz music at a level not typical of high school age students. The PCJB has been an integral part of the Pennsbury Instrumental Music Program\, and the Pennsbury School District is listed as one of the “100 Best Communities for Music Education in the United States”. \nThe band has performed on The Tonight Show\, at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland\, the Mellon Jazz Festival and the Montreal Jazz Festival. Guest soloists through the years have included Stan Kenton\, Maynard Ferguson\, Bill Watrous\, Terrell Stafford\, Karl Allen\, Phil Woods\, Joe Alessi\, Dick Oatts\, and Wayne Bergeron. The PCJB has the distinct honor of being the first American high school jazz band to perform throughout the People’s Republic of China. Many compositions have been composed for the PCJB by such jazz great Grammy Award winning composers as Sammy Nestico\, Frank Mantooth\, Bob Mintzer and Patrick Williams. \nThe PCJB Alumni Band have come together to both give back to this beloved musical program and\, hopefully\, inspire current and future Pennsbury musicians to do the same after they graduate.  Six decades of musicians are represented on stage\, and some have continued to play professionally\, while others have just recently picked things up again. Our careers and lives have transported us across the country and the globe\, but one thing remains the same for us all – our love of this program and our wish to see it continue to thrive. \nAll proceeds from our performances are donated to the Pennsbury Music Boosters so that we can give back to the program we all love.  We highly encourage all to donate to the Pennsbury Music Boosters program to support the current and future musicians of Pennsbury. Please Venmo them today @pennsburymusicboosters \, and thank you!
